About Fleetwood
Fleetwood Town give 1908 as their founding year, although football in the town goes back to the 1890s and the club has folded and been revived more than once since then. The current incarnation started out in 1997 as Fleetwood Wanderers and went back to the Fleetwood Town name in 2002. Highbury Stadium, beside the town's Memorial Park, has been the club's home since 1939.
Andy Pilley's investment from 2004 transformed the club, which won six promotions in ten seasons. The 2012 Conference title brought Football League status, and victory over Burton Albion at Wembley in 2014 took them into League One. They stayed there for ten seasons, peaking with fourth place in 2017, before relegation in 2024. Jamie Vardy joined Leicester City from Fleetwood in 2012, and supporters are known as the Cod Army.
