About Liverpool
Liverpool FC grew out of a split at Everton. When Everton left Anfield in 1892 after a dispute with John Houlding, the ground's owner, Houlding formed a new club to play there. Liverpool were formally registered on 3 June 1892, won the Lancashire League in their first season and were elected to the Football League in 1893.
The club's most decorated era began under Bill Shankly in the 1960s and continued under Bob Paisley, bringing a run of league titles and European Cups. Champions League wins followed in 2005 and 2019, and league titles in 2020 and 2025. The Kop and 'You'll Never Walk Alone' define Anfield, while the main rivals are Everton and Manchester United.
