About Bradford
Bradford City was created in 1903, when Manningham, a rugby league club based at Valley Parade, switched to association football. Keen to grow the game in a rugby stronghold, the Football League elected the club to its Second Division before a squad had even been recruited, and the club kept Valley Parade, opened for rugby in 1886, as its home.
City were Second Division champions in 1907-08 and won the FA Cup in 1911, beating Newcastle United in a replay to become the first winners of the trophy design still used today, made by the Bradford firm Fattorini. The 1985 Valley Parade fire killed 56 supporters. The Bantams later spent two seasons in the Premier League and reached the 2013 League Cup final from the fourth tier.
