About MK Dons
MK Dons were formed in June 2004, after the controversial move of Wimbledon FC from south London to Milton Keynes. An independent commission approved the relocation in 2002, and the team played at the National Hockey Stadium from 2003 before the club took a new name and identity. Under a 2006 agreement, the old Wimbledon club's trophies and memorabilia went to the London Borough of Merton in 2007.
The Dons moved in 2007 to Stadium MK, a two-tier bowl holding about 30,500. Their first season there brought the League Two title and the Football League Trophy, and in 2015 they reached the Championship. They beat Manchester United 4-0 in the League Cup in 2014, dropped to League Two in 2023 and returned to League One as runners-up in 2026. AFC Wimbledon, Peterborough and Northampton are rivals.
