About Aldershot Town

Aldershot Town was formed on 22 April 1992, four weeks after Aldershot FC, founded in 1926 and a Football League club since 1932, went out of business in mid-season with debts of more than £1 million. Led by Steve Wignall, a former Aldershot FC centre-back, the new club took over the Recreation Ground in the town centre, known as the Rec and since 2009 as the EBB Stadium for sponsorship. It started in Isthmian League Division Three and won the title by 18 points in 1992/93.

Known as the Shots, the club won the Isthmian Premier Division in 2003 and the Conference in 2007/08 with a record 101 points, which took it into the Football League. It spent five seasons in League Two, losing a play-off semi-final in 2010, before relegation and administration in 2013. Back in the National League, it won the FA Trophy in May 2025, beating Spennymoor Town 3-0 at Wembley, finished 20th of 24 in 2025/26 and stays in the National League for 2026/27. Woking and Farnborough are its local rivals, and the rivalry with Reading was inherited from the old club.
