About Worcester City

Worcester City was formed on 9 September 1902 after Berwick Rangers, the city's Birmingham League club, was liquidated, and took over its fixtures. From 1905 it played at St George's Lane, where a record crowd of 17,042 saw an FA Cup fourth-round defeat by Sheffield United in 1959, weeks after City had beaten Liverpool 2-1 in the third round. The club joined the Southern League in 1938, won its Premier Division in 1978/79 and was a founder member of the Alliance Premier League in 1979, finishing third in the first season.

St George's Lane was sold for housing in 2013, and the club spent twelve years sharing grounds at Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and the Worcestershire FA's Claines Lane. It resigned from National League North in 2017 and was placed in the Midland League, three levels down, then won the Hellenic League in 2023/24 with 101 points and the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands play-offs in 2024/25. It moved to Sixways, the Worcester Warriors rugby ground, for 2025/26, finished ninth in the Southern League Premier Division Central and stays there in 2026/27.
