About Yeovil Town
Football in Yeovil began with a club formed in 1890, which was reformed as Yeovil Casuals in 1895 and played at the Pen Mill Athletic Ground. The name Yeovil Town followed in 1907, and after a merger the club was Yeovil and Petters United between the wars before reverting to Yeovil Town after the Second World War. Huish Park opened in August 1990 with a friendly against Newcastle United, replacing the old Huish ground.
The Glovers, named after the town's glove-making trade, were long known as non-league giant-killers, beating Sunderland in the FA Cup in 1949. Three Southern League titles, two Isthmian League titles and the 2002 FA Trophy preceded a record Conference win in 2003, and in the Football League they won League Two in 2005 and the 2013 League One play-off final to spend a season in the Championship. Relegated from the League in 2019 and from the National League in 2023, they came straight back up as National League South champions in 2024, finished 16th in the National League in 2025/26 and stay there for 2026/27. Weymouth are their fiercest rivals.
