About Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers were formed on 5 November 1875 at a meeting in a Blackburn hotel called by John Lewis and Arthur Constantine, two former pupils of Shrewsbury School. The club quickly became a force in the early FA Cup, joined the Football League as one of its 12 founder members in 1888, and settled at Ewood Park in 1890, where it still plays.

Rovers have won the FA Cup six times, including three finals in a row from 1884 to 1886, and were league champions in 1912 and 1914. Backed by Blackburn-born steel magnate Jack Walker, they won the Premier League in 1994-95 under Kenny Dalglish, with Alan Shearer leading the attack, and added the League Cup in 2002. Their main rivals are Burnley, in the East Lancashire derby.
