About Wrexham
Wrexham date their founding to October 1864, when members of a local cricket club met at the Turf Tavern to set up a winter game for the town's young men, which makes them the oldest club in Wales. Playing at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham won the first Welsh Cup in 1878 and joined the Football League's new Third Division North in 1921.
Wrexham's 23 Welsh Cup wins are a record. The club reached a European Cup Winners' Cup quarter-final in 1976, won the Third Division in 1978 and knocked reigning champions Arsenal out of the FA Cup in 1992. Relegated from the Football League in 2008, it was bought by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2021, then won three successive promotions to reach the Championship in 2025.
